Football is by far the most popular sport in Spain, and Cordoba is no exception.
Every week there are interesting matches being played and for people from Cordoba as well as visiting fans, watching live football is one of their favourite pastimes.
Cordoba Football Club is an established club which was founded in 1954, and since 1993 has played its home matches in the new "El Arcangel" stadium, ideally situated next to the River Guadalquivir. At present, there is seating capacity for 14,500 spectators but it is undergoing building work to raise the capacity to 25,100, which will make it the fifth biggest stadium in Andalusia.
Getting to know Cordoba means discovering its people, its culture and its customs, and this also includes sharing its favourite pastimes, of which football holds pride of place.
