Arco del Portillo
|
The Portillo or Corvache Gate is an archway in the calle San Fernando, which was popularly known as de la Feria (The Street of the Fair) because it was here that the Amparo Hospital Guild held their annual celebrations. It is a simple structure in the form of a single horseshoe arch with very little in the way of decoration and was opened in the 14th century, to connect the old Medina to the walled area known as the Axerquia.
