La educación de Nerón
This bronze sculptural group represents the Roman emperor Nero being taught by the philosopher Seneca. It was opened on June 15, 2007, in the Llanos del Pretorio, a central Cordovan avenue. The plaster sculpture was made by Zamoran artist Eduardo Barrón González in 1904 to mark the occasion of the National Sculpture Exhibition and is currently on display in the Prado Museum in Madrid.
Lucius Anneus Seneca (Corduba, 4 BC - Rome, 65 AD) was one of the most distinguished intellectuals and politicians of the early Roman Empire. A celebrated orator, he was a prominent figure in Roman politics during the reigns of Emperors Claudius and Nero, and become one of the most admired, influential and respected senators in the whole Roman Empire. Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus was the last emperor of the Julio-Claudian line.
