Sotos de la Albolafia
The Albolafia woodlands occupy approximately 6 square kilometres, and were formed by the build-up of silt and other debris deposited by the river. The result is an unusual natural area of rushes and woodland, where a surprisingly wide variety of birds and plants have found an ideal habitat. On 2nd October 2001, this area was declared a Protected Natural Area, thus creating, right in the centre of the city, a conservation area for the local flora and fauna.
