The Sierra de Hornachuelos Natural Park is situated in the province of Cordoba, in the Sierra Morena, and can be reached from the villages of Posadas or Palma del Rio. It covers a total area of 67,202 hectares, and constitutes a fine example of Mediterranean woodland, with evergreen oak, cork oak and low scrub. The River Bembezar flows through the park and there are many reservoirs and streams. The wildlife is outstanding, with large breeding populations of black vultures and black storks, breeding pairs of imperial eagles, Iberian lynx, ichneumon mongoose and other species.
The park can be reached from Cordoba by the N-431 main road.
