The bust in honour of Ramón Medina is located in the Plaza de San Agustín and was made by sculptor Amadeo Ruiz Olmos in 1993.
Musician and composer Ramón Medina Ortega was born in Brihuega (Guadalajara) in 1891 and died in Cordoba in 1964. He became a household name around 1949, when his songs, inspired by Cordoba, its tourist attractions, customs and traditions, became popular. According to the composer, his aim was to "exalt everything that made up the spirit of Cordoba." He worked in a variety of professions, including as a journalist for the local newspaper Diario Cordoba, and never made a living from his music. Among his numerous distinctions and recognitions, he received the City’s Medal of Merit, the title of Adoptive Son of the city of Cordoba, the Alfonso X the Wise award and a number of other popular tributes. His most popular songs about Cordoba include "Caminito de Santo Domingo", "Cordobesita", "Campanas de la Mezquita" or "La Cuesta del Reventón".
