Palacio de los Venegas
|
This impressive palace is situated right in the centre of Cordoba, very near the pedestrian precinct of Gran Capitán, and has fulfilled a wide range of functions over the years. Originally a stately home, it then became the convent of San Felipe Neri; nowadays, it is the headquarters of the city's Military Governor. The doorways in the huge façade are topped with lintels and triangular pediments. This scheme is echoed in the windows, and the main balcony rests over the pediment of the main entrance, with a curved pediment above that, and the family coat of arms right at the top, all tastefully decorated.
