The Casa del Agua (House of Water) Interpretation Centre features a thematic project on the history of the use of water as a live-giving element and its natural cycle in the city of Cordoba, providing a fascinating insight into the uses and customs of its inhabitants, how these have evolved over the years and the difficulties in establishing a reliable water supply. In the tour round the Casa del Agua, you can admire archaeological remains and infrastructures belonging to different historical periods, ethnographic collections and an extensive collection of pictures and illustrations, which enable visitors to get the full picture.
In addition, the historic building features a stretch of Roman wall and a Roman sewer, as well as a shared neighbours’ courtyard known as a Corrala courtyard, a Medieval well and a water cistern. It also once served as a jail for women sentenced to life imprisonment by the Spanish Inquisition.
