On the banks of the river, very near the district of Santiago, stands a real architectural joy, the Hermitage of los Santos Mártires (the Holy Martyrs). The hermitage was built at the end of the 18th century, on the site where the Convento de los Santos Mártires (Covent of the Holy Martyrs) formerly stood, and where, according to tradition, the relics of these saints were found. It is a small building, in an attractive Neo-Romanic style.
