In 2008, Cordoba City Council and Nuestra Señora de la Piedad school paid tribute to Father Cosme to mark the occasion of the fourth centenary of the founding of his congregation by installing this sculpture by Jose María Serrano Carriel.
Cosme Muñoz Pérez, also known as Father Cosme, was a priest born in Villar del Río (Soria) on April 19, 1573 who died in Cordoba on October 3, 1636. He founded and dedicated his life to the Colegio de la Piedad, a school where orphan girls received a broad Catholic education.
