Torre de Chancillarejo
CIVIL BUILDING |
15TH CENTURY |
MODERN ERA |
LOCATION: CALLE SAN FERNANDO |
The Chancillarejo Tower stands in Calle San Fernando and forms part of the Palace of the Marquis of El Carpio, whose eastern façade was opened after the renovation work carried out in 1933. This palace is the prototype of the great 15th century palatial residences. Apart from the area of garden at the front, the overall impression is of a rugged defensive fortress, dominated by this Gothic-style crenellated tower. The crenellated wall which stretches over the entrance arch, which juts out above the street on the northern side of the house, is in an excellent state of conservation.
