The Axerquia Theatre is an open-air theatre which seats over 3,500 spectators, located at the southern end of Avenida Conde Vallellano, on the edge of Cruz Conde park. It was originally built in 1969, by municipal architect José Rebollo, who followed the idea of a garden-theatre which blended perfectly with the park greenery.
After being closed for several decades, it was reopened and used again for the performing arts and other cultural events in July 2007, after a complicated task of rebuilding. Among the theatre’s best features are the stunning views of the historic quarter of the city and its delightful setting in Cruz Conde park, which makes it a perfect outdoor venue for performances in spring and summer.
